The High Court deal with the highest value claims, and the most complex of cases. They will also be the court of appeal from certain County Court cases. Below are some examples of cases which Adam has dealt with.
Animal Rights injunctions |
Freezing Orders and other interim |
Urgent hearings Court |
Adam represented a large number of respondents to an injunction preventing a large number of things being done on land in and around where the Fitzwilliam Hunt, conducted what they said were lawful hunts. The respondents had taken part in numerous successful prosecutions of persons associated with fox hunting. One issue that arose in the course of interim hearing was whether the use of hounds, and a golden eagle was a lawful manner of hunting. The case it appears was the first time to review the issue, the case was reported here.

Obtaining and or resisting interim applications can be exceptionally complex. An example is freezing orders, where a party seeks to stop the dissipation of assets prior to the recovery of them through the Court system. Often heard initially without notice, the matters will then be listed for a full hearing on notice to the respondent. It is important to ensure that the orders are correct, as if they are not they will not be enforceable. By example see the case of Haederle v Thomas, where a small error stopped enforcement.

Adam has arranged for legal representation for a number of individuals after having initially represented them pro bono.
